Matías Díaz
Matías Díaz was born in Santiago de Chile in 1986. In 2011, he received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Universidad de Santiago de Chile (USACh). In 2017, he obtained his PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Nottingham, UK, in addition to obtaining the degree of Doctor in Electrical Engineering from the Universidad de Chile.
Currently, Doctor Matías Díaz is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Universidad de Santiago de Chile. He also serves as Deputy Director of Research and Postgraduate Studies, Director of the Master in Engineering Sciences (mention in Electrical Engineering), Director of the Diploma in Electromobility and leads the Research Center for Electrical Energy Technologies (E2Tech).
To date, Doctor Díaz has published more than 100 articles in scientific journals and international conferences. In addition, he directs multiple research projects, including Fondequip 230027, Fondecyt 1230596, IDEA I+D ID23i10421 and Fondequip EQM2023. He has received national and international recognitions, such as the “Best Doctoral Thesis Award” from the Chilean Academy of Sciences in 2018, and the National Electromobility Award in 2021, in addition to several “Best paper awards” in international conferences.
Currently, Dr. Diaz’ research interests focus on power electronics, sustainable energy sources, power quality and electromobility.
